Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and MAKE DISCIPLES of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20
REVISED 6/16/2017
Goal of DTS: To be a Disciple who makes disciples.
JOUNREY: The Discipleship Training School (DTS) takes you through the journey of fulfilling the 5 purposes in your life with God: worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and mission.
UNIT SCORE
Each course is worth up to 4 units, taking around 12 Sessions (Hours) to complete. If it's a shorter course, the units will reflect accordingly. If you facilitate or teach a course alone, you will receive 6 units. If you co-teach a course, you get 5 units.
GETTING TO THE NEXT COLOR BELT
You get to the next color belt when you have reached 30 Units, and in addition, share your testimony and gospel with someone, OR go on a mission trip / local outreach. There are a total of 8 levels of DTS. The levels reflect the Karate color belts: yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, brown, red, and black. We use the color belts as a symbol for growth because it reflect our culture, values and discipline.
YELLOW BELT - 30 Units
ORANGE BELT - 60 Units
GREEN BELT - 90 Units
BLUE BELT - 120 Units
PURPLE BELT - 150 Units
BROWN BELT - 180 Units
RED BELT - 210 Units
BLACK BELT - 240 Units
As you can see, it will take investment, dedication, commitment, and perseverance to acheieve the next DTS Level, but it is well worth it!
LENGTH: Each color belt will take around 1-2 years to complete, assuming that you take 1 course per quarter, and serve in some capacity in the church. Learning is a life long process. That's why we have 8 levels.
TIME: DTS courses will be held mainly on Sundays, from 11:30am to 12:30pm at Church.
In addition, various fellowships, small groups, and individuals, can also use approved course materials for their weekly study, and acquire units too. For example, Lighthouse can use DTS material for Friday Night Fellowship, and SALT can use DTS Materials for Weekday Fellowship.
COURSE FORMAT:
1) Content Review by the Facilitator.
2) Go over your devotional assignments. Discussion with the entire group.
3) DO SOMETHING! Do something that relates to your study topic that will put your learning in practice.
All courses have its own materials, with books, study guides, and sometimes video or audio teachings by the original author. If your course has video teachings, then you will spend 20-30 minutes watching the video, then spend the rest of the time discussing the content and actually DO SOMETHING about it.
